Desmond Lites (Philadelphia, PA) cracked his first collegiate homerun in the fourth inning and the Griffins would have to score twice in their final at-bat to win the opener 6-5; while an eight-run second inning carried the Griffins to the sweep in game two, 11-3.
Chestnut Hill College (12-8) got the jump on Lincoln University (3-7) in the opener, platting three runs in the bottom of the first inning on singles from senior second baseman
Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA), Lites, and a Lion error, 3-0. The Lions got one back in the second inning, 3-1, and another in the fourth inning, 3-2, but Lites' homerun in the bottom of the frame made it 4-2 Griffins. The Lions threatened to steal the game with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, 5-4, but after a one-out hit–batsman, a pinch hit single from freshman
Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, NY), a double from freshman pitcher
Taylor Steen (New Egypt, NJ) would bring two runs home to give the Griffins the 6-5 edge and himself the win (3-0). Steen pitched the final 1.1 innings and struck out two. Daywalt led the fueled the offense with three hits (3-for-4) and a run-batted-in (RBI); junior shortstop
Joe Crane (Newtown, PA) and Lites recorded two hits apiece.
The Griffins carried the momentum into the second contest, scoring one run in the first inning thanks to a lead-off single and hustle on the base paths from senior left fielder
Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA), 1-0, and eight runs in the second inning on four hits and two Lions errors, 9-0. The Griffins added one run in the third inning, 10-0, and another in the fifth inning, 11-0, for plenty of cushion against the Lions three late runs, 11-3. Latchum, Steen, and Mullin each recorded two hits (2-for-3); Steen and Mullin recorded two RBI. Senior pitcher
Jack McGinley (Blue Bell, PA) earned the win in relief (1-0), allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out two.
