Waterbury, CT – (3/24/2012) – Chestnut Hill College held off a late Post University charge to earn their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win this afternoon, 20-16. The Griffins controlled an eight-goal lead, 16-8; with 12 minutes remaining (12:16) only to survive the Eagles rally thanks to the second half scoring of junior attack

Post University (1-7, 0-5) scored first on the scoreboard with an unassisted effort from junior midfielder Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, NY), 1-0, but behind the direction of junior midfielder

Kelly Campbell (Hatboro, PA), Chestnut Hill College (1-4, 1-2) retaliated with a 5-0 run, 5-1. Timony and Campbell each provided two scores in the streak with strike from freshman defenseman
Briana Addison (Garnet Valley, PA) sandwiched in the middle. The Griffins continued to control play heading to halftime, outscoring the Eagles 6-4 to the break. Timony and Campbell would each strike two more times with Squillante chipping two goals before intermission, 11-5. After halftime, Squillante helped the Griffins extend their advantage to as many as eight, 16-8, before the Eagles tightened their defenses. Senior midfielder Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, CT) spirited the Eagles reprise, scoring three consecutive tallies to cut the Griffin lead to five, 16-11, with 8:11 remaining in regulation. Squillante, Addison, and Timony ensured that the Griffins would not lose their grip by providing the four scores amidst the Eagles rally, 20-16.
Michalak totaled nine points, leading the Eagle effort with six goals and three assists; she also recorded four ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Kanavy and sophomore attack Meghan Diggett (East Islip, NY) provided five points apiece. Kanavy added two ground balls and eight draw controls to her four goals and an assist, while Diggett recorded all five of her points on scores in addition to four ground balls and two draw controls. In goal, senior Michelle Chadwick (Miami, FL) totaled ten saves in the loss (1-7).
Timony's seven goals and an assist led the Griffins offensive totals with Squillante and Campbell providing seven points and six points, respectively. Squillante supplied a ground ball in addition to her six goals and an assist, while Campbell offered four ground balls, four draws, and a caused turnover to go with her four goals and two assists. Jenn Delahanty (Staten Island, NY), lead the Griffins with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Delahanty earned her first win of the season (1-4) with 15 saves.
