Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Oxford, PA – (3/29/2012) – Chestnut Hill College finished off this year's meetings with Lincoln University on grand fashion today, taking the opener of the doubleheader 19-0 before completing the sweep with a 7-1 win in game two. The Griffins totaled 21 hits while the Lions accumulated 12 errors over the two-game series. The Griffins took two games from the Lions last week, sweeping a home doubleheader by finals of 6-5 and 11-3, respectively.

In the opener, the Chestnut Hill College (14-10) lineup began to fire on all cylinders and with the help of some poor Lincoln University (3-13) at the start of the second inning. Junior shortstop Joe Crane (Newtown, PA) got aboard in the lead-off role with the help of a throwing error by the Lion third baseman. Then after a ground out the Lion second baseman and a beam ball to sophomore catcher Joe Mullin (Warrington, PA) another Lion error on allowed a ground ball from freshman first baseman Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, NY) to bring home the Griffins first run, 1-0. Freshman left fielder Nick Naumann (Bel Air, MD) kept the inning going with a run scoring double to left center field, 2-0. Sophomore center fielder Desmond Lites (Philadelphia, PA) followed sacrifice fly to right field, 3-0, freshman third baseman Taylor Steen (New Egypt, NJ) scored another with a single to right field, 4-0, and it only got more interesting when senior second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) got to the plate. He would single and terrorize the Lion pitcher for a run-scoring wild pitch, 5-0, and a double steal with sophomore designated hitter Ray Puskar (Green Lane, PA) to score the final Griffin run of the inning, 6-0. The Griffins totaled nine more hits and the Lions committed five more errors to precipitate the lopsided 19-0 final. Steen, Daywalt, Crane, and Naumann each recorded three runs-batted-in (RBI), while sophomore pitcher Jim Goodwin Jr. (Delran, NJ) earned the win (2-0) by only allowing five hits and a walk over five innings of work. He struck out four.

The same group of Griffins went back to work in the second contest this time supporting a combined effort from the pitching staff. An error on a Lites grounder led off the affair. Daywalt and Crane then singled in runs to put the Griffins up 2-0. The Griffins scored two more in the fourth inning after another Lion error and a RBI ground out from Naumann, 4-0. The Griffins added three more runs on four hits and an error in their next at-bat to end the fifth inning with a 7-0 advantage. The Lion broke the doubleheader shutout in their final at-bat of the afternoon, drawing two balks to complete the task. Freshman right fielder Mike McLaughlin (Philadelphia, PA) led the Griffins in hits with three, while Crane knocked in another three runs for six RBI on the day. On the hill, freshman pitcher Seamus Finnegan (Collegeville, PA), junior pitcher Rudy Behrens (Wallingford, CT), freshman pitcher Dane Gahr (Brick, NJ), and McQuade combined to hold the Lions to one run on three hits and four walks, while striking out seven. Finnegan earned the win (2-1).

The baseball team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Bloomfield College on Saturday, March 31.
