Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, PA – (4/17/2012) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed Wilmington University to campus for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader this afternoon. Freshman pitcher Chelsea Botsch (Smyrna, DE) only allowed two hits in the opener, allowing the Wildcats to earn a 6-0 win. The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the second game, thanks to a sixth-inning single to center field from junior pitcher Mandi Rush (Royersford, PA), but with five runs in the top of the seventh inning the Wildcats only expanded their 5-1 lead to a 10-1 win.

Junior right fielder Nivea Watson (Lehigh Acres, FL) singled in the third inning and junior first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, NJ) singled in the fourth inning, but Chestnut Hill College (2-26, 2-20) never got a runner in scoring position against Botsch who struck out eight over seven innings. Senior right fielder Kinsley Parker (Millsboro, DE) led the Wildcats with two hits (2-for-4) and two runs-batted-in (RBI).

In game two, the Wildcats scored two runs in the second inning, two more in the fourth inning, and another in the fifth inning to lead the Griffins 5-0 after five. The Griffins broke through in the sixth inning. Junior second baseman Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) led off the at-bat with a double down the left field line, freshman third baseman Caitlin O'Neill (Elkton, MD) followed with a single through the left side, and Rush looked to help herself with a run-scoring single to center field, but with a double play on a pop-out to third base and a grounder to short, the rally was at an end. O'Neill led the Griffins with two hits in the contest.

The softball team concludes their 2012 home schedule with a 3:00 p.m. CACC doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday, April 19. Prior to the start of the opener, the Chestnut Hill College Athletic Department will recognize senior catcher Gina DeAnnuntis (Hammonton, NJ) in annual Senior Day celebrations.
