Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, PA – (4/19/2012) – The Chestnut Hill College softball team concluded their 2012 home schedule with an afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College. The Lightning came on quickly, late in the opener to earn a five-inning 8-0 win before completing the sweep of the Griffins with a 6-1 game two win. Freshman third baseman Caitlin O'Neill (Elkton, MD) led the Griffins with two hits in the night cap. Prior to the start of the twin bill, the Chestnut Hill College Athletic Department recognized catcher Gina DeAnnuntis (Hammonton, NJ) in annual Senior Day traditions.

After three scoreless inning, Goldey-Beacom College (22-21, 12-12 CACC) quickly change the complexion of the first game with three runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth. A lead-off double for senior first baseman Jordan Waterloo (Waldorf, MD), a walk, and an error, started the Lightning's fourth at-bat. With two more hits the Lightning plated three in the inning, 3-0, before adding five fifth-inning runs on six hits and another Chestnut Hill College (2-28, 2-22) miscue, 8-0. Junior first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, NJ) singled in the Griffins half of the fourth inning and junior third baseman Mandi Rush (Royersford, PA) doubled in the Griffins final at-bat, but those were the only hits allowed by sophomore pitcher Roni Peters (Leonardtown, PA), who walked one and struck out five in the five-inning victory (9-5).

Three base hits landed the Lightning a 2-0 lead in the second inning of game two. They added to their advantage with a four-run fourth inning, 6-0, but the Griffins answered in the bottom of the frame with their first run of the day. A two-out beaming of Cavallo gave the Griffins their first base runner of game two. An O'Neill single and two Lightning errors later, the Griffins made their first appearance on the scoreboard, 6-1. The Griffins would threaten again in the sixth inning with one-out singles from O'Neill and Benson, but following a fielder's choice and a strikeout the rally was no more.

The softball team finishes their CACC schedule at Post University with a 3:00 p.m. contest on Friday, April 20.
