Box Score 2 Waterbury, CT – (4/20/2012) – Chestnut Hill College finished their 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season today with an afternoon doubleheader at Post University. Comfortable on their home field, the Eagles took the opener in five innings, 10-1, and then completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in game two. Only three Griffins recorded a hit in the first game with freshman third baseman

Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) recorded her first homerun of the season to account for the Griffins run in game two.
With two outs in the first inning of the opener, junior first baseman
Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, NJ) singled to off the Post University (16-30, 14-12) first baseman to give Chestnut Hill College (2-30, 2-24) a runner at second base in their initial at-bat. The Griffins capitalized with an O'Neill double to left field, 1-0, but the Eagles answered in the bottom of the frame with a couple base hits and their first of four homeruns on the afternoon, 4-1. The first homerun came from sophomore shortstop Christina Udris (Levittown, PA), who also connected for a two-run shot in the third inning to push the Eagle lead to 6-1. With four more runs in the fourth inning, the Eagles were able to end the first game early, 10-1.
The second game went to the Eagles as well. Four singles and a sacrifice fly gave them a 3-0 lead in the second inning. A third-inning Eagle homerun made it 4-0 and another homer paired with back-to-back doubles extended the home team's lead to 6-0 after four innings. Benson recorded two of the Griffins five hits and her fifth-inning homerun broke the Eagles shutout, 6-1, before contest concluded on a 7-1 final. Sophomore left fielder

The softball team will end their 2012 season with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at the University of Bridgeport on Sunday, April 22.
