Rockville Centre, N.Y. – (9/1/2012) – Picking up where they left off, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team opened their 2012-2013 season with a 9-0 victory at Molloy College. The Griffins swept doubles play with two freshmen scoring an 8-0 win in the third doubles flight, before completing the shutout of the Lions with six individual victories.

Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) started the Griffins off against Molloy College (0-3) by defeating junior Tatiana Rajaona (Paris, France) and senior Madeline Jurlano (Middle Village, N.Y.) 8-6 in the top team flight. At number two doubles, senior
Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and sophomore
Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) teamed for an 8-2 win, while freshmen
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) and
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) opened their collegiate careers with an 8-0 victory at number three doubles.
In singles play, Dennis led the Griffins, scoring a 6-4, 6-3 win over Rajoana in the number one singles match. Shcherbakova won number two singles in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0, while Parapouras was triumphant at number three singles 6-1, 6-1. Oechsle won the fourth individual flight 6-1, 6-0 while the freshmen also earned their first individual wins in the final two singles flight. Williams-Mulesa won number five singles 6-1, 6-1, and Owens took number six singles 6-1, 6-0.
The women's tennis team will open their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with their next match, a 4:00 p.m. opening serve is scheduled for Thursday, September 6, at Philadelphia University.
