Women’s Tennis Returns to CACC Play With Defeat of Devils

Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/25/2012) – Returning to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule this afternoon, the Chestnut Hill College earned a 9-0 win at the University of the Sciences (USciences). The Griffins swept doubles play before continuing their dominance with six singles wins over the Devils.
 
Junior Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and senior Anastasiya Shcherbakova (Belarus, Minsk) set the tone for Chestnut Hill College (5-1, 4-1), leading off doubles with an 8-0 win in the number one flight. At number two doubles, senior Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and sophomore Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) teamed for an 8-5 win, while freshmen, Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) and Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) combined for an 8-2 win at number three doubles.
 
Singles went just as well for the Griffins. Shcherbakova claimed number one singles 6-0, 6-3. Dennis was the winner at number two singles, 6-0, 6-1. Parapouras won number three singles 6-1, 6-0. Oechsle took number four singles 6-0, 6-0. At number five singles, Williams-Mulesa was victorious 8-3 and at number six singles Owens finished the match with an 8-0 win.
 
The women's tennis team continues their CACC schedule at Goldey-Beacom College with a 3:00 p.m. contest on Friday, September 28.
