Griffins and Rams Complete Fall Season Clash

Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/27/2012) – Under cloudy skies, the men's tennis match with Philadelphia University resumed today at Chestnut Hill College. The Griffins carried a 2-1 doubles advantage after the match's original start on Wednesday, September 26. Today, they finished off the Rams with a sweep of singles play.
 
Rainy skies washed out the initial start of the match on Wednesday. Chestnut Hill College (2-1)  earned the lead on the first day with wins at number one and number two doubles. Junior Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and sophomore Steven Say (Cannes, France) won the top team match by an 8-5 final. At number two doubles, freshman Kevin Taylor and junior Anthony Moore seized a 8-0 win. The Rams won number three doubles, 8-6.
 
The Griffins finished off the Rams today, shutting out the Rams in singles play. Sophomore Michael Humes (Medford, N.J.) took the top singles match 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. Pham completed his perfect day with a 6-3, 6-0 win at number two singles. Moore won number three singles 6-0, 6-0 and Say captured number four singles 7-5, 7-5. At number five singles, junior Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) scored a 6-1, 6-0 win and at number six singles Taylor triumphed 6-1, 6-1.
 
The men's tennis team joins the women's team for a trip to the New York Institute of Technology on Sunday, October 7. Opening serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
