Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Unfortunately, the Lightning won the match by an 8-1 final.
Goldey-Beacom College (8-1, 6-0) swept doubles play from Chestnut Hill College (5-2, 4-2) to carry the momentum heading to individual competition, 3-0. The Lightning's shutout was only interrupted by Parapouras' win, as senior
Anastasiya Shcherbakova (Belarus, Minsk) lost number one singles 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Junior
Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) dropped number two singles 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore
Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) was beaten 6-1, 6-2 at number four singles. Freshman,
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) surrendered number five singles 6-1, 6-0, and freshman
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) lost number six singles, 6-1, 6-0. The Lightning took all the doubles matches by a final of 8-5.
The women's tennis team returns home tomorrow, Saturday, September 29, to host Post University in a 1:00 p.m. CACC match.
