Griffins Nearly Perfect Against Post University

9/29/2012 7:38:00 PM

Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/29/2012) – Chestnut Hill College wasted no time dismissing Post University from the tennis courts, as the women's tennis team shutout the Eagles, 9-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition. The Griffins held the Deacons pointless through doubles play and they almost did the same in singles, but the Eagles broke up the perfect afternoon with senior Anastasiya Shcherbakova (Belarus, Minsk) closing out number one singles 6-2, 6-3.

Chestnut Hill College (7-1, 5-1) took each doubles match by an 8-0 final. Senior Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and freshman Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) earned the win at number one doubles, freshmen, Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) and Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) took number two doubles, while juniors Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Olivia Stevenson (Philadelphia, N.Y.) were triumphant in the third team flight.

The Griffins looked to shut the Eagles out completely with 6-0, 6-0 wins in each individual match, except number one singles. Dennis won number two singles, Parapouras claimed number three singles, sophomore Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) earned the Griffins the point at number four singles, sophomore Alexis Puhl (Philadelphia, Pa.) was victorious in the fifth singles flight, and Stevenson won number six singles.

The women's tennis team continues their CACC schedule with a 4:00 p.m. home match on Wednesday, October 3, against Holy Family University.
