Erica McIntosh (Waldorf, Md.) came off the Griffin bench to score seven points in the first half, but a ten-point second half allowed the Panthers to separate for an 85-32 win behind 27 points from senior forward Jessica Kitrys (Parlin, N.J.).
Adelphi University (2-0) opened a 16-point lead, 22-6 (12:09), before McIntosh came off the Chestnut Hill College (0-2) bench to bring the Griffins back within single digits, 24-15, less than three minutes later (9:15). Unfortunately, the versatile play of freshman forward Cali Balfour (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and senior guard Sade Jackson (Hackensack, N.J.) reestablished the home team advantage at 27-point advantage by halftime, 49-22. The Panthers lead gradually grew in the second half, maxing out at 58, 85-27 (1:33), before a five-point run from the Griffins sophomore guard
Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ended the contest on an 85-32 final.
Kitrys' performance was supported by Jackson (9 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists) and complimented by Balfour (14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals).
McIntosh scored all of her points in the first half and finished as the Griffins high scorer while helping senior center
Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) lead the defensive effort with two steals. Bouie grabbed four rebounds and made two blocks. Junior guard
Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, N.J.) contributed six points and eight rebounds to the Griffin effort.
The women's basketball team returns home to host Saint Anselm College in a 1:00 p.m. contest on Sunday, November 17.
