The Hawks gradually grew a 15-point advantage over the first ten minutes, before leading by 24 points at halftime, 44-20, and eventually maximizing their lead to 35 at game's end. Saint Anselm College (3-1) was stalled in the opening minutes, but after locating senior forward Tori Lehr (Cohasset, Mass.) in the post the Hawks separated from Chestnut Hill College (0-3) for an 11-point lead, 19-8, on a Lehr layup at 12:37. The deficit reached 16 points, 29-13, five minutes later (7:35) and reached 24 points by halftime, 44-20, with junior guard
Shayla Felder (Cheltenham, Pa.) headlining the Griffins only response. Unfortunately, the home team only lost ground in the second half with the Hawks superior rebounding effort, 50-37, shooting performance, 43.3% - 23.7%, and ball control, 9-17 turnovers, allowed them to maintain a comfortable advantage for the duration of the period.
With 17 points and eight rebounds, Lehr topped a three-headed attack the also received significant contributions from senior guard Meg Morrissey (South Kingstown, R.I.) and senior forward Briana Jones (White Plains, N.Y.).
