Box Score Albany, N.Y. – (12/21/2013) – This afternoon, Chestnut Hill College and American International College (AIC) squared off in the opening contest of The College of St. Rose Holiday Classic in Albany, N.Y. Forcing several turnovers, the Yellow Jackets gradually grew their advantage to a 42-25 halftime lead before defeating the Griffins by a 24-point margin, 76-52. Junior guard

AIC (7-3) established a clear advantage over Chestnut Hill College (1-8) early, using an unanswered opening run to grab a nine-point lead, 9-0, by 17:38 of the first half. By 8:37, the Yellow Jacket lead extended to 12 points, 27-15, and as play reached intermission another push increased the deficit to 17 points, 42-25, for the break. After halftime, the Yellow Jacket advantage ballooned to as many as 30 points, 66-36, just before the 12-minute mark (12:18). Gorczynski and McDonough led a brief Griffin rally that would cut the spread to 19 points, 69-50, by 6:15, but the effort would not sustain a final 17-2 Yellow Jacket retort.
The Yellow Jackets saw four players in double figures, most of all senior guard Sarah Noble (Windsor, Ontario) who lead the group with 17 points, three rebounds, an assist, three blocks, and a steal. She was helped by 16 points, six rebounds, an assist, and a steal from junior forward Krista Ferrentino (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and 11 points apiece from junior guard Alyssa Roach (New Bedford, Mass.) and sophomore guard Brianna Bishop (Suffield, Conn.). Roach added two rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and a steal to her double-digit scoring effort.
Gorczynski added five rebounds, two assists, and a steal to her team-leading scoring performance. McDonough finished with ten points, a rebound, four assists, and two steals. Farrow and Bouie each collected 12 rebounds.
The women's basketball team will play the College of St. Rose next in the Holiday Classic. Tip-off is schedule for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22.
