Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (2/12/2013) – In a tale of two halves, Chestnut Hill College dominated the first half of tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the University of the Sciences (USciences), 29-17. Unfortunately, the reversal of fortunes benefited home team as the Devils held the higher ground in a 71-59 final. Sophomore guard Garrett Kerr (Moorestown, N.J.) added four assists, a block, and two steals to a 17-point, 21-rebound double-double in the Devils winning effort, while 18 points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals from senior guard
Francis Ashe (Hyattsville, Md.) headlined the Griffins side of the box score.
As the guest, Chestnut Hill College (11-10, 7-5) set the tone in the contest's opening half. With a 46.2% (12-of-26) – 22.9% (8-of-35) first-half shooting advantage, the Griffins gradually built a 23-11 lead over USciences (10-12, 7-7) by the six-minute mark (6:11). As the first-half clock reached 1:16 the Griffin advantage inched to 14 points, 29-15, before the contest settled on a 29-17 halftime spread. Senior guard

Seamus Radtke (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlined the Griffins balanced first-half performance. The second half revealed a twist in the evening's conclusion, as the Devils outshot, 54.8% (17-of-31) – 22.6% (7-of-31), and outrebounded, 26-14, the Griffins in the closing frame. Kerr and freshman guard Shofolarin DeSilva (Moorestown, N.J.) led the Devils to a 31-31 tie less than five minutes (15:58) into the second half. It would be tied three more times before knotting for a fourth time at 42-42 with 8:26 remaining in the affair. Back-to-back three-point baskets from senior guards Brian Boyle (Havertown, Pa.) and Alec McClure (Blue Bell, Pa.) would give the home team a 48-42 advantage before the Devils sealed the victory from the foul line. The CACC rivals combined to shoot 31-of-37 (83.8%) from the free throw line with the Devils using a 49-34 rebounding edge to get the upper hand.
Kerr's impressive double-double effort was supported by four additional Devils in double figures. DeSilva came off the Devil bench for 12 points, while Boyle and McClure both finished the contest with 11 points. Junior guard Tyrone Mann-Barnes (Woodlynne, N.J.) offered ten points as fourth Devils in double digits.
Ashe was 6-of-13 (46.2%) from the field and an uncharacteristic 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line in his team-leading scoring performance. He was supported by ten points, five rebounds, and a steal from DiRugeris, while Radtke and junior guard
Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlined the Griffin rebounding effort with six boards apiece.
The men's basketball team looks to get back on track in their next CACC contest; a 3:00 p.m. home contest against Felician College on Saturday, February 16.
