Box Score Caldwell, N.J. – (2/14/2013) – Chestnut Hill College continued their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule this evening at Caldwell College, where they led the Cougars until the seven-minute mark of the first half before losing in a 69-53 final. Junior forward Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) headlined the Cougar victory with a 29-point, 12-rebound double-double, while senior forward
Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and junior guard
Annie Farrow (Ocean Township, N.J.) each contributed double-doubles to the Griffin effort.
Alexander headlined the balanced Chestnut Hill College (4-17, 2-12) first-half effort that gave the Griffins a 17-13 lead with 7:18 remaining in the period. Unfortunately, with a slight 26-22 rebounding edge, a 10-7 turnover advantage, and a more frequent appearance at the free throw line (7-of-11 to 2-of-8), Caldwell College (14-11, 12-4) took a 31-23 lead to intermission. After the break they went to Anderson early and often. She scored 21 points and harnessed eight rebounds in the closing frame, helping the Cougars grow their lead to as many as 18 points, 45-27, just five minutes into the period (15:08). The Griffins took one more run at the Cougars with sophomore guard
Lila Jones (Lansdale, Pa.) and Alexander capping a 14-3 run that cut the deficit to seven points, 48-41, with 8:23 to play. Farrow put in the effort to keep the Griffins close; she scored six points in a minute-and-a-half span to hold the spread at ten points, 61-51, with 3:04 to go. However, with time running short and the Griffins forced to foul, Anderson and senior guard Torey Jones (Providence, R.I.) were left to hit the game-clinching free throws for the Cougars.
Anderson was 11-of-22 (50.0%) from the field and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line in her dominant double-double effort, she also made two steals in the contest. Jones finished with ten points, two rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals while sophomore forward Emily Caswell (Wakefield, R.I.) was a factor as well with eight points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.
Alexander's 18-point, ten-rebound double-double topped the Griffins box score. She was 7-of-12 (58.3%) from the floor, 2-of-4 (50.0%) from three-point range, and 2-of-7 (28.6%) from the free throw line in her team-leading performance. Farrow was equally impressive in her first double-double performance, recording exactly ten points and ten rebounds while recording three assists and a block in the contest.
