2/21/2013 10:15:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (2/21/2013) – Making it four straight at home, Chestnut Hill College defeated Nyack College, 76-61, in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Griffins outrebounded the Warriors 55-33 to build a 44-29 halftime advantage and a 63-36 lead just eight minutes into the second half (12:04). Senior forward Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) led the Griffins with her third double-double in four games; 14 points and 11 rebounds.

After an early timeout, Alexander and sophomore guard Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) fueled the Chestnut Hill College (6-18, 4-13) rally that delivered the Griffins a 13-point lead, 27-14, on a three-point basket from freshman guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 10:12. The Nyack College (1-24, 1-17) answer cut the margin to seven points, 31-24, at 6:57, but the run was short-lived as the Griffins superior rebounding effort (26-18) extended the home team's halftime lead to 15 points, 44-29. Following the break, the paint play of Alexander and junior center Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) overshadowed the fleeting effort of senior center Courtney Peay (San Antonio, Texas) as the Griffin lead grew to as many as 27 points, 63-36, just eight minutes (12:04) into the closing frame. As time wore on, the deficit proved too much for the Warriors, whose late push only brought them within 15 points, 76-61, by the final horn.

Peay led the Warriors with 17 points, four rebounds, and two steals. She was complimented by 11 points apiece from freshmen, forward Jamie McKeither (Laurel, Md.) and guard Tori Trador (Seminole, Fla.). Senior guard Khamari Tellis (Chicago, Ill.) was a key player as well, offering six points, seven rebounds, four blocks, and a steal to the Warrior effort.

Alexander was 4-of-5 (80.0%) from the floor and 6-of-13 (46.2%) from the free throw line in her double-double performance. She also provided three assists to a team effort that also received significant contributions from Gorczynski, sophomore guard Lila Jones (Lansdale, Pa.), junior forward Annie Farrow (Ocean Township, N.J.), and senior guard Latoya Laing (Snellville, Ga.). Gorczynski hit 4-of-7 (57.1%) from long range and finished the night with 13 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Jones totaled 14 points. Farrow offered ten points, eight rebounds, an assist, and three blocks. Laing matched Alexander's rebound number, 11, while also recording eight points and an assist.

The women's basketball team concludes their home schedule on Saturday, February 23, with a 1:00 p.m. CACC contest against the University of the Sciences. Prior to the start of the affair, the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics will recognize Alexander, Laing, senior guard Megan Shaughnessy (Mullica Hill, Pa.), and senior player/manager Asha Jones (New Castle, Del.) as part of annual Senior Day ceremonies.
