Lila Jones (Lansdale, Pa.) came off the Griffin bench to lead the home team with 13 points, eight rebounds, an assist, and a steal while freshman guard Tiaja Harrold (Paulsboro, N.J.) posted a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double to lead the Wildcats.
Wilmington University (3-19, 1-14) paced Chestnut Hill College (4-15, 2-10) 19-15 in a first half that saw the opponents shoot a combined 25.0% (15-of-60) from the floor and turn the ball over 28 times. The second half went better for the home team with Jones converting a three-point play for a 27-24 lead at 12:25 and sophomore guard
Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) draining a three-pointer for a six-point lead, 30-24, only 30 seconds later (11:56). The Griffins lead maxed out at 11 points, 44-33, with 2:16 left and there it remained as the final horn sounded, 49-38.
Harrold scored two three-point baskets (2-of-5, 40.0%) in her team-leading 4-of-11 (36.3%) shooting performance (15-of-63, 23.8%). Freshman guard Tenicia Spence (Baltimore, Md.) was the second Wildcat in double figures with ten points.
Jones shot 5-of-9 (55.6%) from the field including various acrobatic layups and the three pointer that sparked the late Griffin run. In the paint, senior forward
Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and junior center
Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) anchored the Griffins winning effort. Alexander finished the contest with seven points, ten rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal while Bouie impressed with eight points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
The women's basketball team will take to the road for Caldwell College for their next CACC contest, which is schedule for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, February 9.
