Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/14/2013) – The high-powered offense of Philadelphia University proved too much for Chestnut Hill College in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, as the Lady Rams defeated the Griffins 20-2. The Griffins tallied one goal in each half with senior midfielder
Erica Eaby (Lancaster, Pa.) scoring in the first half and fellow senior midfielder
Brianne Timony (Allentown, N.J.) recording the home team's second-half goal.
Philadelphia University (1-2, 1-0) scored three times in the opening eight minutes, scoring two goals on either end of a Chestnut Hill College (0-3, 0-1) own goal to pressure an early Griffin timeout. After the timeout, the Lady Rams picked up where they left off as they scored three more goals before Eaby's score at 9:44, 6-1. Unfortunately, three more Lady Rams goal followed Eaby's strike to leave the halftime spread at 9-1. Soon after intermission, the contest went to running clock on a goal from junior attack Emily Ray (Bedminster, N.J.) at 25:39, 11-1, and it was only momentarily stopped on Timony's goal at 24:26, 11-2, before continually running for the remainder of the affair.
Sophomore attack Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J.) and freshman attack Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa.) each recorded four goals to lead the Lady Rams. Mower added an assist to her tally and additionally totaled two draws. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Hartman (Sewell, N.J.) also recorded four points, offering two goals and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Felicia Branagan (Millville, N.J.) played the opening 37:58 and anchored a solid team defense, 13 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls, with four saves and a ground ball in the win (1-2).
Helping Eaby and Timony provide the Griffins with some offense, freshman midfielder
Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) hustled to five draws. Defensively, Timony recovered four ground balls while senior goalkeeper
Jennifer Delahanty (Staten Island, N.Y.) made eight saves and recorded a ground ball to earn the loss (0-3) in 49:53 minutes of playing time.
The women's lacrosse team breaks from their CACC schedule to travel to Molloy College on Saturday, March 16, for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
