Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/28/2013) – Chestnut Hill College deposited the first two goals of this afternoon's contest with East Stroudsburg University, but a late first-half run gave the Warriors a 3-2 halftime lead and the momentum heading to the closing period. With the lead in hand, the Warriors kept managed to stay a step ahead of the Griffins as they captured a 12-9 victory, outscoring the home team 9-7 in the second half. Christina Squillante (Kings Park, N.Y.), 1-0 at 27:29, and Timony gave Chestnut Hill College (2-6) a 2-0 lead with 18:18 remaining in the first half. The Griffins held their initial advantage until the final minutes of the frame when freshman attack Lauren Nunes (Phillipsburg, N.J.), freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Wiltraut (Bethlehem, Pa.), and senior attack Sarah Ginn (Westhampton, N.J.) changed the course of the game with three consecutive goals at 2:23, 2-1, 1:43, 2-2, and 0:22, 3-2, respectively.
After intermission, Alexander and Timony briefly brought the Griffins back to the lead as Alexander's unassisted score, just 24 seconds into the second half (29:36), tied the game at 3-3 and Timony's unassisted goal at 26:56 put the Griffins ahead, 4-3. An exchange of goals, the Warriors at 23:54, 4-4, and the Griffins at 21:25, left the spread at 5-4, but that was when the visitors made their push. Using a four goal run, powered by junior midfielder Nicole Miller (Pottstown, Pa.) and Nunes, the Warriors separated for an 8-5 lead. Keimig provided the spark for the Griffins final rally. Kelly Campbell (Hatboro, Pa.) left the Griffins down one, 9-8, with 12:38 to go. Unfortunately, the Griffins would get no closer as Miller played hero for the Warriors, scoring at 9:36, 10-8, and 6:37, 11-8, to propel her team to victory, 12-9.
Miller finished with four points, three goals and an assist, to headline the Warrior offense. She also collected three draws. Nunes scored three times and additionally provided a ground ball, two draws, and two caused turnovers. In goal, senior Amanda Simms (Smithtown, N.Y.) earned the win (1-4) with 13 saves and three ground balls.
Timony added a draw and a caused turnover to her team-leading scoring performance. Alexander scored twice and also contributed three ground balls, three draws, and a caused turnover to the Griffin effort.
