Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/10/2013) – The University of the Sciences (USciences) visited campus for today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader and took two league games off Chestnut Hill College, 5-0 and 7-1. Freshman catcher
Megan Kehr (Exton, Pa.) and senior left fielder
Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Spring, Fla.) each recorded a hit in the opener and two game two, but the only Griffins to knock in a run in the twin bill was freshman first baseman
Allie Williams (Warrenton, Va.), who did so in game two with sixth inning liner up the middle.

Senior pitcher Courtney Spina (Thornton, Pa.) dominated the first game of the afternoon for USciences (16-12, 12-6), allowing only four hits while her teammates made the most of six hits and three Chestnut Hill College (8-18, 5-11) errors in a 5-0 victory. The Griffins did not reach second base until the sixth inning, when Kehr knocked a two-out doubled to left field before advancing to third base on a Devil wild pitch. Unfortunately, Spina spoiled the Griffins lone scoring opportunity with third out coming with a grounder to third base. Mattaliano, Williams, and senior right fielder
Veronica Wilenta (Brick, N.J.) also recorded a hit for the Griffins.

The Griffins hit better in game two, but left six runners on base despite seven singles and a walk. The faced an uphill challenge after a six-run second inning, 6-0. Freshman center fielder
Nicole Carney (Ontario, Calif.) led off the Griffin sixth inning reaching on a beam ball. A single from Kehr advanced her to second base before coming home on a one-out Williams single, 6-1. An error allowed USciences to add a run in the top of the seventh inning for the 7-1 final.

The softball team plays next on Saturday, April 13, when they visit Bloomfield College for a 1:00 p.m. CACC doubleheader.
