Wildcats Split CACC Series with Women’s Lacrosse

Box Score Newark, Del. – (4/9/2013) – The afternoon started off well for the Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team as senior midfielder Erica Eaby (Lancaster, Pa.) and freshman midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) gave the Griffins a 2-0 advantage less than four minutes after the opening draw. Unfortunately, Wilmington University got revenge from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rivals' first meeting as they outscored the Griffins 19-4 the rest of the way to a 19-6 final. Eaby and senior defender Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) scored two goals apiece to lead the Griffin effort.
 
Eaby scored first, giving Chestnut Hill College (2-9, 2-5) the contest's initial advantage with an unassisted tally at 28:28, 1-0. Keimig chimed in a little more than two minutes later, extending the Griffins lead to 2-0 just before the 26-minute mark (26:02). Wilmington University (2-10, 2-4) got on the scoreboard at 23:03, 2-1, and once they did they were nearly unstoppable. Graduate attack Liz Case (Perry Hall, Md.) and sophomore midfielder Megan Keffer (Wilmington, Del.) generated a bulk of the Wildcats offense, which separated the home team to a 9-4 halftime edge and the eventual 19-6 victory.
 
Case totaled ten points, providing four goals and six assists to the Wildcat win. Keffer and sophomore midfielder Rebekah McCurry (St. Leonard, Md.) each finished the affair the four points, Keffer added three ground balls, eight draws, and a caused turnover to her two goals and two assists, while McCurry supplied four ground balls, two draws, and three caused turnovers in addition to her four scores. Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Hall (Bel Air, Md.) earned the win with four saves and a ground ball.
 
Eaby added a draw and a caused turnover to her two tallies while Keimig recorded one draw in addition to her first-half score. Alexander, who scored twice, finished the contest with four ground balls and four draws. In goal, freshman goalkeeper Danielle Owen (Glenolden, Pa.) took the loss (0-2) despite nine saves and a ground ball.
 
The women's lacrosse team continues to battle the CACC on the road. The Griffins play next on Saturday, April 13, when they visit Georgian Court University for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
