Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/13/2013) - After a five-game road trip, Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team returned home to complete their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 9-0 triumph over Bloomfield College. The Griffins won 8-0 in each doubles flight to swiftly progress the contest to individual play where they completed the sweep of the Deacons.
Chestnut Hill College (15-6, 5-1) wasted no time gaining an advantage over Bloomfield College (0-9, 0-6) as they won all three doubles matches by an 8-0 final. Junior
Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and sophomore
Steven Say (Cannes, France) teamed up for the win a number one doubles, while sophomore
Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and junior
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) won number two doubles by the same score. Following suit, junior
Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, N.Y.) and freshman
Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) took the third team flight.
The Griffins carried their momentum into singles play, where Humes headlined a lineup that demoralized any hope of a Deacon rally. Taylor, sophomore
Sammy Atri (Mexico City, Mexico), and Solema took numbers four, five, and six singles 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Humes won 6-2, 6-0 at number one singles, Pham followed at number two singles 6-1, 6-0, and Say secured number three singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The men's tennis team wraps up their 2012-2013 regular season tomorrow, Sunday, April 14, at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). The match is schedule for an 11:00 a.m. opening serve.
