Griffins Clear Rams to Face Clippers for CACC Championship

Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/20/2013) – The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team will have the luxury of playing for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on their home courts as the Griffins defeated #3 Philadelphia University, 5-0, in today's CACC Semifinal match. After a sweep doubles play, sophomore Sammy Atri (Mexico City, Mexico) and junior Anthony Moore (Williamstown, N.J.) secured singles wins to end the match early and advance the Griffins to tomorrow's CACC Championship verses #1 Concordia College (NY).
 
Sophomore Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and junior Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) began the Chestnut Hill College (16-7) shutout with an 8-4 win at number three doubles. Moore and freshman Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) were next, claiming the second team flight 8-2, before junior Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and sophomore Steven Say (Cannes, France) completed the perfect team round with an 8-4 win at number one doubles. The Griffins continued their brilliant play in the individual round, winning at number six and number three singles to end the match early, 5-0; Atri took number six singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, with Moore cleaning up number three singles shortly after, 6-1, 6-0.
 
The men's tennis team will meet the Clippers tomorrow, Sunday, April 21, for a 12:00 p.m. opening serve at the CACC Championship.
