Women’s Basketball Continues Winning Ways, Capsize Clippers in CACC Clash

Box Score Bronxville, N.Y. – (1/25/2014) – The Griffins recent winning ways continued today at Concordia College (NY), where Chestnut Hill College won their third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest and their fourth in their last five games by a 55-38 final. Crashing the boards and spreading the ball around, the Griffins led the Clippers to a 26-21 halftime edge before extending their advantage to as many as 19 points in the final minutes of the affair.
 
Senior forward Annie Farrow (Ocean Township, N.J.) and sophomore guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) shared the lead role for Chestnut Hill College (5-12, 3-7) as they combined for ten points and nine rebounds. Farrow controlled the glass with eight rebounds and McDonough headlined the produced on both ends of the court with seven points and three steals. The duo continued to fuel the Griffins in second-half, taking the wind out of the Clippers sails with a 23-4 a mid-period run that separated them for a 19-point lead, 55-36, before the final two minutes of play (2:28). The Griffins forced 11 second-half turnovers and maintained their rebounding advantage, 49-39, to a 17-point win, their largest margin of victory since the 2011-2012 campaign (85-57 vs. Nyack College, 2/4/2012).
 
The Clippers backcourt directed their play with freshman guard Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) and senior guard Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) accounting for 17 of the 38 points. Freshman center Rebecca Gordon (Patchogue, N.Y.) contributed three points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and a steal.
 
McDonough was 6-of-10 (.600) from the floor, including two three-point baskets (2-of-3, .667), and a 5-of-6 (.833) shooting performance at the free throw line. Farrow offered her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds in addition to two assists and a steal. Junior guard Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, N.J.) was a key player as well, totaling eight points, nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
 
The women's basketball team plays their next CACC contest at Wilmington University on Tuesday, January 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
