1/4/2014 7:34:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (1/4/2014) – A second-half combination of senior forward Annie Farrow (Ocean Township, N.J.) and junior guard Shayla Felder (Cheltenham, Pa.) led Chestnut Hill College back within three points, 61-58 at 2:14, of Caldwell College late in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. But with time on their side, the Cougars hit the necessary free throws to keep the final score in their favor, 65-59. Farrow provided ten points and nine rebounds in the second half to lead the Griffins with 20 points and 12 rebounds in her third double-double performance of the season.

Caldwell College (7-6, 5-1) gradually grew a 43-32 halftime lead with a 50.0% (18-of-36) shooting effort and 23-16 first-half rebounding edge. The Cougars would grow their lead to as many as 14 points, 46-32, early in the closing period (17:09) and lead by 11 points, 61-50, as late as 5:37, before Farrow and Felder play began to make an impression on the deficit. The duo combined to score six straight Chestnut Hill College (1-11, 0-6) points and senior center Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) would add a layup to cut the deficit to three points, 61-58, for the final two minutes of play. The Cougars immediately looked to senior forward Janette Anderson (Lynn, Mass.), whose inside presence drew a prompt Griffin foul. Unfortunately, she converted the following free throws to increase the margin to five points, 63-58, and all but seal the Cougar victory with 1:47 left to play.

Anderson totaled 18 points, ten rebounds, a block, and a steal as the Cougars top performer. Junior forward Emily Caswell (Wakefield, R.I.) also recorded a double-double, adding two assists and two steals to her 14 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, N.Y.) matched Anderson's scoring effort with 18 points of her own, while freshman forward Alyssa James (Rosedale, N.Y.) was a contributing player as well with nine points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals.

Farrow's double-double was complimented by 13 points from junior guard Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) and a ten-point, five-rebound reserve effort from Bouie. Felder finished the affair with five points, a rebound, and four assists.

The women's basketball team will briefly break from CACC play to host Southern New Hampshire University in a 1:00 p.m. contest tomorrow, Sunday, January 5.
