Chestnut Hill College (2-11) held a narrow 35-33 edge at halftime and continued to lead SNHU (5-7) until the Penmen tied the affair at 54-54 with 7:25 remaining in regulation. Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) cut the deficit to two points, 60-58, at 2:33 and just seconds later another Penmen turnover resulted in two converted free throws for junior guard
Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) and a 60-60 tie with 1:58 left on the game clock. The Penmen answered at 1:45, 62-60, but Townsend-Mobley then took matters into her own hands, forcing overtime with regulation's last bucket at 1:25, 62-62, and dominating the overtime frame with seven points, four rebounds, and a steal in the final five minutes. The outcome was a 17-10 overtime edge and a 79-72 Griffin victory.
Junior guard Brooke Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H.) ran the Penmen offense through sophomore forward Erin Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.), who finished with 16 points, ten rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Springfield finished with an equally significant stat line; a team-high 17 points, three rebounds, six assists, a block, and a steal. In reserve, freshman guard Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) offered 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, and four steals, while sophomore forward Bianca Langford (Worcester, Mass.) grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in addition to strong defensive performance; four blocks and a steal.
Townsend-Mobley grinded and hustled for 14 points, seven rebounds, and four steals as she hit 8-of-11 (.727) from the free throw line, 7-of-10 (.700) in overtime, and provided the necessary floor leadership for the Griffins triumph. Farrow finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Gorczynski totaled 18 points as well, starting off 3-of-5 (.600) from long range in the opening frame, and also recording six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
