Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/11/2014) – The Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team was ruthlessly efficient in dispatching Concordia College (N.Y.) this afternoon, scoring on three of their first five shots to post an impressive 3-0 victory over the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leaders. Freshman Joseph Casaletto (Sewell, N.J.) scored his first collegiate goal just 2:41 into the game and assisted on the dagger strike by junior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Colombia) (81:08), and in between junior captain Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) converted the first penalty kick of the season (23:18) as the Griffins pulled into a tie for second place in the crowded league table.

Casaletto got Chestnut Hill College (5-6-1, 4-2-1) off to a flying start less than three minutes into a rainy afternoon, collecting a beautiful cross from senior midfielder Michael Hester (Seaport, N.Y.) at the back post and depositing it into the back of the net with a clinical, one-touch finish to put the Griffins on top, 1-0.

Concordia College (6-2-2, 5-2-2), who came in one spot out of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II rankings, nearly equalized at 15:43, but sophomore James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) dove to his left to make a blind save on a sizzling free kick by Clippers sophomore midfielder Javier Alvarez Vispo (La Coruna, Spain). Jaffe extended the hosts' advantage at the 23:18 mark, when he latched on to a deep pass and was tackled in the box by a Concordia College defender, granting the Griffins their first penalty kick opportunity of the season. The midfielder calmly chipped the ball over Clippers goalkeeper Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica) and into the upper right corner of the net for his sixth goal of the season, 2-0.

Despite a 24-7 advantage in shots, the Clippers were unable to solve Chestnut Hill College's swarming defense. With time winding down on Concordia College's chances, Amaya ended them for good, receiving a touch pass from Casaletto and finishing on a breakaway at 81:08, 3-0, to match Jaffe with six goals on the season and give Casaletto the first multi-point game of his young career.

Jackson recorded six saves in collecting his fourth shutout of the season (5-5-1), while Gordon stopped two shots to take the loss (6-2-2).

Senior defenseman David Roberson (Porstmouth, England) and freshman Matteo Fabbri (South Salem, N.Y.) attempted four shots apiece to lead the way for the Clippers, while Alvarez Vispo and junior midfielders Jesus Alvarez-Riesco (La Coruna, Spain), and Mauricio Chaparro (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) each recorded three. Jaffe, Casaletto, and Amaya finished with two shots each for Chestnut Hill College, with junior midfielder Hampton Mitchell (Upper Marlboro, Md.) accounting for the other.

The Griffins are back in action on Tuesday, October 14, when they host Holy Family University for a 7:00 p.m. CACC contest.
