Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/27/2014) – The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team matched up with one of the top National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II programs in its regular-season home finale this afternoon. East Stroudsburg University, which came in ranked No. 5 in the country, cruised to a 7-0 victory in the non-conference contest to extend its winning streak to 15 games.
Chestnut Hill College (3-13) had few opportunities to score against East Stroudsburg University (15-1), which has surrendered only nine goals all season. The Warriors proved potent on the offensive end as well, getting goals from seven different players in their highest scoring output of the 2014 campaign.
Senior midfielder Courtney Keller (Thomasville, Pa.) opened the scoring just 3:29 in, heading in a cross from freshman forward Molly Vicari (Wernersville, Pa.) at the near post, 1-0. Sophomore midfielder Shea Neal (Barto, Pa.) doubled the margin about 10 minutes later, kissing a shot off the left post, 2-0 (12:18).
The Warriors stretched the lead to four in quick succession, with junior midfielder Syrandin Deere Vester (Calgary, Alberta) and junior forward Sammi Jo Hughes (Douglassville, Pa.) tallying markers just 1:51 apart at 25:11 (3-0) and 27:02 (4-0), respectively.
Sophomore midfielder Olivia Davidovich (Dover, N.J.) (60:14, 5-0), sophomore forward Hannah Gombos (Schnecksville, Pa.) (64:13, 6-0), and freshman defender Kelly Redl (Ramsey, N.J.) (82:48, 7-0) all claimed second-half strikes for East Stroudsburg University.
The Warriors, who outshot the Griffins by a 41-9 count, got at least three shots from seven players, led by five from Hughes and four apiece by Redl and Davidovich. Freshman goalkeeper Jules Harris (Orangeburg, N.Y.) made one save to earn the win (12-1), and sophomore Brooke Powers (East Fallowfield, Pa.) accrued three saves in the final 14:36.
