Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (12/13/2014) – Saturday afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest became a runaway train for Chestnut Hill College, who were left chasing Philadelphia University up and down Herb Magee Court in an 80-49 final. Senior guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa.) and the Lady Rams gradually grew a 45-17 halftime advantage thanks to a 45.9%-29.2% shooting edge and 17 Griffin turnovers in the first half. Off the bench, a determined Nina Mazzarelli (West Chester, Pa.) captained the Griffins competitive second-half effort.

Jacobs was the conductor on a Philadelphia University (7-1, 3-1) engine that built speed over the course of the opening half. She totaled 15 points in the frame, benefitting from the defensive play of junior guard Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa.) who contributed two blocks and three steals to the Lady Rams first-half resistance (six blocks and ten steals). Chestnut Hill College (2-6, 1-2) first looked inside to freshman forward Brianne Morgera (Newport, R.I), before turning to Mazzarelli in the second half. The perimeter approach proved the better option against the Lady Rams, who could not keep the Griffin rookie guard off the free throw line in a 6-of-6 (100%) performance that was capped with the game's final basket; a trifecta that brought the final spread to 31 points, 80-49, with 1:03 remaining on the game clock.

Jacobs added five rebounds, an assist, and two steals to her game-high 23 points. Two other Lady Rams finished in double figures with Young complimenting her 13 points with six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and four blocks, and junior forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa.) contributing four rebounds, two assists, one blocks, and two steals in addition to her ten points.

Mazzarelli got to the basket for two first-half buckets before having to earn her second-half points the hard way, totaling 13 points after her perfect (6-of-6, 100%) penalty shooting performance and terminal triple. Morgera finished with six points, a team-high nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while senior guard Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, N.J.) and freshman guard Bianca Adams (Elkins Park, Pa.) helped with seven points apiece.

The women's basketball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, December 17, when they host Goldey-Beacom College in a 6:00 p.m. CACC contest.
