Griffins Leap Lions, Honor Trevisan And Bogans in Senior Ceremony

Box Score  Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/18/2014) – Looking to stay in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoff race, Chestnut Hill College claimed another crucial conference victory with tonight's 81-65 dismissal of Georgian Court University. Four Griffins finished in double figures with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals from graduate guard Taylor Trevisan (West Chester, Pa.) leading the way.
 
Chestnut Hill College (9-15, 7-10) wasted little time seizing control of tonight's affair as they played of the Sorgenti Arena crowd for an early eight-point advantage, 10-2 at 16:36. By the midway point of the period (9:55), the Griffins extended their deficit to 18 points, 28-10, before allowing a late Georgian Court University (2-22, 0-17) run reduce the halftime spread to nine points, 37-28. In the second half, however, the Griffins were unwilling to let the Lions back into the fray as they reestablished their advantage to 21 points, 59-38, with 11:22 still to play. The margin would max out at 22 points, 80-58, in the closing minute, allowing Coach Balcer to empty the bench and the Sorgenti crowd to recognize Trevisan and senior guard Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, Pa.) in their final home contest.
 
Junior forward Jordan Wejnert (Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) led the Lion effort with a 25-point, ten-rebound double-double. In support, freshman guard Luka Zgonjanin (Belgrade, Serbia) offered 12 points and five rebounds.
 
Trevisan's versatile performance was complimented by 14 points from junior guard Christian Walck (Lancaster, Pa.), a season-high 12 points from sophomore forward Noel Hightower (Easton, Pa.), and 11 bench points from freshman guard Billy Cassidy (Primos, Pa.). Walck scored all of his points in the second half and added six rebounds, Hightower added eight boards, two assists, and three steals to his offensive production, and Cassidy recorded four steals while hitting 3-of-7 (.429) from three-point range. Prior to the start on tonight's contest, Bogans and Trevisan were recognized by the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics in an annual Senior Night ceremony.
 
The men's basketball team plays their next CACC contest at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, when they visit Felician College.
