Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (2/6/2014) – Senior forward
Annie Farrow (Ocean Township, Pa.) carried Chestnut Hill College through a rough first half and a backcourt duo of sophomore guard
Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior guard
Shayla Felder (Cheltenham, Pa.) rallied the Griffins in the second half, but the University of the Sciences (USciences) proved too much in tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) 59-54 final. Junior guard Brianne Traub (Wayne, N.J.) led all participants with 22 points while Farrow, McDonough, and Felder all finished in double figures for the Griffins.
Mired by a 25.0% (7-of-28) first-half shooting percentage and a 25-14 rebounding deficit, Chestnut Hill College (6-14, 4-9) fell behind USciences (14-6, 9-4) in a 32-17 halftime spread. Farrow was the lone bright spot for the Griffins, scoring all ten of her points in the opening period. In the second half, the Devil advantage maxed at 20 points, 51-31, a little way past the midway point (9:12). Over the next eight minutes, McDonough and Felder spirited the Griffins back within five points, 55-50, heading to the final 1:41 of regulation. Unfortunately, they could not gain the upper hand as the margin remained, 59-54, at the final buzzer.
Traub added eight rebounds to her game-high scoring performance. In support, she received a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double from freshman guard Camille McPherson (West Orange, N.J.) and 16 points from junior guard Jessica Sylvester (Trevose, Pa.).
