Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (3/18/2014) – Chestnut Hill College got contributions from a variety of places, but despite the balanced attack the Griffins lost this afternoon's contest to the University of Bridgeport by a 16-8 final. Freshman midfielder Lea Sanders (North Merrick, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.), and senior attack Kelly Campbell (Hatboro, Pa.) each scored two goals and served as the Griffins top performers.

Keimig served first as a playmaker, finding freshman midfielder Alicia Herbert (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) for Chestnut Hill College's (0-6) first goal at 22:58, 2-1. After a third University of Bridgeport (1-6) goal, two consecutive strikes from Sanders brought all things even with 18:45 remaining in the first half, 3-3. But that's when things went south for the Griffins as a Purple Knight timeout reenergized the visitors for a 4-0 run to halftime, 7-3, and a 9-5 second-half spread, 16-8.

Junior midfielder Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with four goals, an assist, two ground balls, five draws, and two caused turnovers. She was supported by sophomore attack Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.), who offered three goals and two assists and freshman defender Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.), who supplied three goals two ground balls and a draw control. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) earned the win (1-6) with eight saves and two ground balls.

Campbell added four ground balls, a draw, and four caused turnovers to her offensive production. Keimig was versatile as well with two ground balls, five draws, and a caused turnover in addition to her two scores. Sanders was just as effective, offering a ground ball, four draws, and a caused turnover in compliment of her scoring. In goal, freshman goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) made seven saves, recovered two ground balls, and caused a turnover in the loss (0-6).

The women's lacrosse team returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Saturday, March 22, when they visit Wilmington University for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
