Men’s Tennis Tackles Bears before the Rain, Stroble Sets Sights on Century Win

Bloomfield, N.J. – (3/31/2015) – Looking to beat the rain, today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) at Bloomfield College was moved to an 11:00 a.m. start. The decision proved to be the correct one as Chestnut Hill College escaped Brookdale Park with a 5-1 league win just before the precipitation rendered the top three singles matches remaining unfinished.

Chestnut Hill College (7-6, 2-0) out-skilled Bloomfield College (1-4, 0-3) in doubles play as they hustled to face the Bears individually and without interruption. Freshmen Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) were the last to finish in the team format, conquering the number one flight 8-6. In the bottom two doubles matches, the Griffins triumphed by an 8-0 final thanks to the combined and respective efforts of seniors, Steven Say (Cannes, France) and Michael Humes (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), and junior transfer Henry Boyle (London England) and freshman Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France).

Conditions worsened as singles play began. The Bears would claim a point in the fourth flight due to an unfortunate Griffin injury, but a 6-1, 6-2, Humes victory at number five singles and an 8-0 pro-set victory from Boyle in the sixth individual match clinched the team win, 5-1, and ended play for the afternoon showers.

The win is the 99th for Head Coach Albert Stroble, who looks to secure his milestone victory tomorrow, April 1, when the Griffins return home to host Caldwell University in a 3:00 p.m. CACC match.
