New Haven, Conn. - (4/21/2015) – Advancing to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoffs for the first time in six years, Chestnut Hill College earned the #5 seed in the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament and will head to #4 Wilmington University for an Opening Round contest. The other CACC Opening Round game pits sixth-seeded Dominican College (NY) against third-seeded Philadelphia University; both affairs will take place at the site of the higher seed and begin today, with the Griffins and Wildcats squaring off at 2:00 p.m. and the Lady Rams hosting the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Top-seeded Holy Family University and second-seeded Georgian Court University received byes to the semifinals, which will be played Saturday at Georgian Court.
Completing an undefeated (8-0) league campaign, Holy Family University captured the CACC regular-season crown and the accompanying top seed for the conference tournament. The Tigers, who have a record of 12-3, boast seven all-conference honorees and are led by CACC Coach of the Year Monica Quinn. Georgian Court University (10-5, 6-2), meanwhile, staked its claim to the #2 slot with a 17-11 overtime triumph at Wilmington University on the season's final day of competition. Junior attack Melissa Williams (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) was named the CACC Player of the Year and leads the league in points (87) and assists (51).

Seeking their first-ever CACC Championship Tournament victory, Chestnut Hill College's first obstacle is a rematch with the fourth-seeded Wildcats, who prevailed 19-10 at home in the regular-season meeting. Wilmington University (6-10, 5-3) offered three All-CACC First Team performers, including senior midfielder Rebekah McCurry (St. Leonard, Md.), senior goalkeeper Corinne Dries (Bear, Del.), and junior attack Sara LeBrun (Bel Air, Md.).
Defending champion Philadelphia University finished 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the CACC to garner the #3 seed; the Lady Rams entertain #6 Dominican College (4-10, 4-4) in today's other Opening Round tilt.
Holy Family University awaits the winner of the Griffins-Wildcats brawl, while host Georgian Court University will face the winner of Philadelphia University and Dominican College (NY) in the other semifinal on Saturday.
