Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Norristown, Pa. – (3/16/2016) – With an 8-0 victory already under their belt this afternoon, Chestnut Hill College looked to end their first home stand of the season with a sweep of Kutztown University. Junior pitcher Justin Harnett (Aberdeen, N.J.) gave them all he could, offering a perfect game through five inning while a second-inning single from junior centerfielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.), a third-inning single through the right side from senior pinch hitter Robert Slagle III (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), and some fourth-inning head-up base running by junior Joseph Monaghan (Doylestown, Pa.) accounted for the scores in a 3-1 final. Harnett and game-one starter, sophomore Andrew Sibson (Galloway, N.J.) combined to hold the Golden Bears to one run on six hits and two walks while senior first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown, Pa.) went 5-for-7 win the twin bill.

Harnett retired Kutztown University (10-13) in order for the first five inning of game two, before a one-out sixth inning double broke up the gem and facilitated the Golden Bears' only run of the day. He escaped the at-bat with little damage as a pair of singles plated a run, 3-1, before a pop-out to shallow right field ended the threat. Junior pitcher Dylan Borawski (Hatfield, Pa.) came in to close the deal for Chestnut Hill College (8-9), surrendering a two-out single before leaving the final Golden Bear looking in his first save for the Scarlet and Gold. Harnett earned the win (2-2) and allowed one run on three hits while striking out three in six inning of work.

DiBona recorded two hits and a run-batted-in (RBI) as four others connected for singles in the night cap. In the second inning, a two-out single from Campion, a stolen base, and a DiBona single accounted for the first Griffin run, 1-0. The third-inning tally came after a two-out single from sophomore second baseman Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.), a walk to junior shortstop Jonathan Baturgil (Freehold, N.J.), and Slagle's pinch-hit single, 2-0, while in the fourth inning back-to-back singles from, pinch hitter, Monaghan and DiBona set the table for the third Griffin run. That tally scored after a DiBona steal drew a throw, prompting an aggressive Monaghan to hustle home, 3-0.

The opener went through two scoreless innings before the Chestnut Hill College bats came alive. Their third at-bat began with an error by the Golden Bear second baseman and after a Craig single through the right side, a stolen base, and a strike out, a Monaghan bloop-single brought home the first of four runs, 1-0. The second scored on a RBI fielder's choice by senior left fielder Brendan Looby (Sewell, N.J.), 2-0, and the last two on a two-out Slagle double down the right field line, 4-0. Meanwhile, Sibson kept the Golden Bears in check, holding the visitors to three hits and two walks while striking out six in the win (2-1).

The Griffins took advantage of four hits and two more Golden Bear errors to score two runs in the fifith inning, 6-0. And they added two more tallies in the sixth inning with a one-out walk to DiBona facilitating a pair of runs after consecutive singles from Monaghan, Looby (7-0), and Campion, 8-0. Campion, was 4-for-4 in the first game, tripling to lead-off the second inning before connecting for singles in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.

Chestnut Hill College opens their Central  Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with their next doubleheader; a 12:00 p.m. twin bill at Post University on Saturday, March 19.
