The Griffins defeated the Knights handedly, capturing all three doubles matches before sweeping singles play as well in a 9-0 triumph. Senior
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) was one of six Griffins to win in both formats, but with her two wins she now stands one win shy of 100 career victories.
With the help of junior
Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France), Owens collected her 98
th victory as Chestnut Hill College's (11-3) first point of the match. They set the tone for the evening, combining to win the number two doubles flight 8-0. Junior
Louise Charley (St. Jean de Luz, Fance) and freshman
Danielle Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) followed with an 8-2 win at number three doubles before senior
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) and junior
Lara Scholtze (Bod Hamburg, Germany) teamed for an 8-1 win at number one doubles.
Singles play went just as smoothly with Josso securing the round's first point in the top flight, 6-0, 6-0. Charley and freshman
Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) respectively followed with wins at number three singles, 6-3, 6-1, and number four singles, 6-2, 6-1, before the Griffins put Wartburg College (6-9) away with consecutive wins at number five singles, 6-3, 6-0, number two singles, 6-2, 6-1, and number six singles, 6-0, 6-3.
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team travels to the University of Tampa tomorrow, Thursday, March 2, to face the Spartans in a 3:00 p.m. match.
