Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (3/29/2016) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season continued today for Chestnut Hill College, who hosted Bloomfield College for a pair of league contests. Connecting for three home runs on the afternoon, the Bears scored six late runs to win the opener 7-1 before an extra-inning home run won them the nightcap, 3-2. Junior first baseman Jenna Long (North Wildwood, N.J.) recorded three hits (3-for-5) while senior pitcher Kaitlyn Johnson (New Boston, N.H.) struck out nine in the game-two pitchers' duel.
 
It was a good day for junior Kirsten Wilson (Beaver Falls, Pa.) who homered to score the first run of her game-one win before homering again to win game two in extra innings. After Wilson's first long ball, 1-0, Bloomfield College (11-12, 5-5) added three more runs in the fifth inning on four hits and a pair of Griffin errors, 4-0. Chestnut Hill College (8-24, 5-5) got one back in the bottom of the frame, using a lead-off walk to senior designated player Laura Eidam (South Salem, N.Y.) to manufacture the tally after a Long single, a couple of extra throws, and a run-scoring single to right field from senior center fielder Nicole Carney (Ontario, Calif.), 4-1. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Griffins got with the Bears adding three runs in the top of the seventh inning to insure Wilson's win (7-4). Carney, senior catcher Megan Kehr (Exton, Pa.), junior shortstop Corie Apodaca (Ontario, Calif.), freshman right fielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.), and Long were responsible for the Griffins' five hits.
 
Chestnut Hill College scored the first run of the second game on a second-inning Bear error, 1-0, but a third-inning sacrifice fly evened the spread at 1-1. The Bears went ahead 2-1 with a fifth-inning home run from junior catcher Jamie Cook (Elkland, Pa.), only for the Griffins to repay them with a sixth-inning score on a two-out single through the left side from sophomore right fielder Jessica Pulis (Baldwin, N.Y.), 2-2. With Johnson and junior pitcher Stephanie Miller (Temecula, Calif.) dueling in the circle, the affair went to extra innings. There, Wilson connected for a one-out home run to push the visitors ahead, 3-2. The Griffins threatened in the bottom of the frame with a pair of two-out singles from Eidam and Long, but Pulis was unable to be the hero twice in one game as a fielder's choice ended the contest at third base. Senior second baseman Julie Heaton (Berlin, N.J.) recorded two doubles while Eidam and Long both singled twice.
 
The Chestnut Hill College softball team briefly breaks from their CACC schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, March 30, to host West Chester University in a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
