Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/14/2016) – In search of a revenge from a 2-1 game-one loss, Chestnut Hill College found themselves with a 5-1 advantage in the fourth inning of game two versus Philadelphia University. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams rallied for four runs in the sixth inning and two more with two out in the seventh inning to complete the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep on a 7-5 final. Junior shortstop Corie Apodaca (Ontario, Calif.) recorded three hits in the opener, senior second baseman Julie Heaton (Berlin, N.J.) totaled three hits in the nightcap, while senior catcher Megan Kehr (Exton, Pa.) split her three hits between the two games.

In a game-one pitchers' duel, Chestnut Hill College (11-35, 8-14) cracked first, falling behind Philadelphia University (9-25-1, 6-14) in the second inning. The Lady Rams used a lead-off double, a Griffin error, and a pair of back-to-back base hits to assume a 2-0 advantage. The Scarlet and Gold got one run back in the bottom of the third inning with a two-out Apodaca solo home run to left field, 2-1, but that it was all the Griffins could muster as Stephanie Pepper (Toms River, N.J.) shut down the inning with a pop-out to short. The rest of the game would pass without another score, leaving Pepper with a win (3-7) in a 13-stirkeout effort. Junior pitcher Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.) took the loss (6-13) despite only allowing one earned run on six hits. She struck out four.

Kehr led-off the Griffins' first at-bat of the second game with a double to left field and scored after their first run on a misplay by the Lady Ram catcher, 1-0. The second came after another error, a wild pitch, a walk to senior third baseman Sofia Cedrone (Philadelphia, Pa.), and a sacrifice fly from senior designated hitter Laura Eidam (South Salem, N.Y.), 2-0. Then senior left fielder Nicole Carney (Ontario, Calif.) singled the Griffins' third run, 3-0. The Scarlet and Gold added two more tallies in the second inning with a lead-off single from Kehr, a sacrifice from junior center fielder Ashleigh Sharp (Dresher, Pa.), and a pair of singles from Apodaca and Cedrone, 5-0. The Lady Rams got on the scoreboard with three hits in the third inning, 5-1. Their late-inning rally came in the sixth and seventh innings, when they used nine hits and an error to capture a 7-5 win.

The softball team continues their CACC play on Saturday, April 16, with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader against Dominican College.
