Griffins and #15 Clippers Collide In Possible CACC Championship Prequel

Box Score  | Bronxville, N.Y. - (4/18/2016) – In a possible prequel to the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament set to take place at Chestnut Hill College this weekend, April 23-24, the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team visited #15 Concordia College (NY) for an afternoon match today. After a Clipper sweep of doubled play the Griffins battled back individually, with the fate of the contest weighing of the decision at number four singles. There, junior Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) fought until the bitter end in a 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4 defeat that left the balance in the home team's favor, 5-4.
 
Chestnut Hill College (12-6, 5-1) found themselves in a bad spot after doubles play as Concordia College (9-4, 5-0) captured a 3-0 advantage with a sweep of the team competitions. Ducretot and freshman Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) were the first to fall in the round, doing so 8-1. The next two points came a little bit harder for the Clippers, who to them in order at number three, 8-6, and number two, 9-8 (7-5), doubles.
 
Freshman Lucas Abe (Duderstadt, Germany) led the Scarlet and Gold reprisal with his 5-4, retirement win at number five singles. The next point came at number one singles where sophomore Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) took down the #28 individual player in the nation, sophomore Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan), 6-2, 6-3. That inspired two more Griffin wins at number two (6-4, 2-6, 6-4), from Kohler, and number six (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) from senior Henry Boyle (London, England), but they cam after a 6-2, 6-0, Clipper win at number two singles to leave the match even at 4-4. After dropping the opening set 6-4, Ducretot endured for a 7-6 (7-2) win in the second set. Unfortunately, he could not capture the third set in a narrow 6-4 decision.
 
He and rest of the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team will look to get revenge at this weekend's CACC Championship Tournament, for which the seating is still undetermined. The semifinal rounds are scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts.
