#2 Griffins Eliminate #3 Rams, Taylor Records 100th Win In CACC Semifinal

Box Score  | Elkins Park, Pa. - (4/23/2016) – Setting up a fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Final versus #1 Concordia College (NY), #2 Chestnut Hill College retired #3 Philadelphia University in a 5-0 semifinal match. Escaping from the early morning showers, the Griffins, Clippers, Rams, and Devils opened the league finale at Fossler's Tennis Center. There, the Griffins swept the Rams in doubles play before securing their championship ticket with individual wins by freshman Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) and freshman Lucas Abe (Duderstadt, Germany). The Clippers ousted #4 the University of the Sciences (USciences) in the early CACC Semifinal match by the same 5-0 score.
 
Chestnut Hill College (14-6) claimed the doubles matches in order with an 8-1 win from Kohler and junior Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) at number one singles leading off the round. The number two doubles match was next to finish as sophomores, Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) scored an 8-4 win soon after. Seniors, Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) and Henry Boyle (London, England) closed out team play with their 8-6 win at number two doubles. The victory was #100 for Taylor who is now one of four members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis 100-Win Club, joining Manuel Ceniceros '14 (102), Steven Say '15 (107), and Michael Humes '15 (133).
 
In a race to five points, the Rams ran out of luck early in singles play. Kohler quickly made the void 4-0 with his 6-0, 6-0, triumph at number two singles. Abe provided the game-winner with his 6-1, 6-2, victory at number five singles. The Griffins were leading in number three (6-3, 3-0, unfinished), four (6-3, 4-3, unfinished), and six (1-1, unfinished) singles, when the contest ended. The Rams held the edge in the top individual flight; 4-6, 2-2, unfinished.
 
The CACC Championship Match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. opening serve, back on campus at the Chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts.
