Griffins Overrun Rams For Second CACC Win

Box Score | Philadelphia, Pa. - (4/6/2016) – Finding time to play in between the early spring showers, Chestnut Hill College made it two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victories in a row by a 7-2 final with today's win over Philadelphia University. The Griffins once again led their league rival 2-1 after doubles play, separating for a 4-1 advantage with the first two victories of singles play before clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-3, win from Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) in the third individual flight.
 
Regalin and his doubles partner, countryman, and classmate, sophomore Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) gave Chestnut Hill College (7-4, 2-0) the initial lead of the CACC clash with their 8-2 win at number one doubles. Philadelphia University (4-9, 1-1) answered with the point at number one doubles, 9-8 (7-4), but then it was three straight Griffin wins that put the game in check, 4-1. The first of those wins came with a 9-7 number three doubles win from seniors Henry Boyle (London, England) and Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) and the last two on a 6-1, 6-2 number five singles win from freshman Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) and a 6-1, 6-3 number four singles with from sophomore Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France). The Rams interrupted the run with a 6-4, 2-1, retirement win at number one singles, 4-2, before the clincher was scored by Regalin, 5-2. Freshmen Lucas Abe (Duderstadt, Germany) and Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) recorded subsequent wins at number six singles, 7-5, 6-2, and number two singles, 0-6, 6-0, 6-1, respectively, 7-2.
 
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team's next challenge lies at fellow Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional power, the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) who they visit for an 11:00 a.m. match on Friday, April 8.
