1/7/2017 7:58:00 PM

Box Score Nyack, N.Y. - (1/7/2017) – Chestnut Hill College was efficient in the first half, only turning the ball over twice and shooting 50.0% (15-of-30) from the field to control a 34-25 lead over Nyack College midway through this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Unfortunately, the home team turned the tide in the closing frame, attacking the glass in a 40-26 rebounding deficit that left the final spread in their favor, 65-59. Sophomore forward Dakpe Yiljep (Samaru-Zaria, Nigeria) and junior forward Ed McWade (Wildwood, N.J.) each recorded 11 points for Chestnut Hill College; freshman guard Nasir Bell (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the third Griffin in double figures with 10 points in a team-high 37 minutes.

It was Bell and Yiljep who got Chestnut Hill College (4-10, 1-6) out to the nine-point, 34-25, halftime lead. The duo combined for half (17) of the Griffins' first-half points as Yiljep scored nine of the Scarlet and Gold's first 19 points and Bell delivered them their largest lead, 28-19, of the contest with 6:08 remaining in the first half. But it was all downhill from there with Nyack College (4-9, 1-6) matching the Chestnut Hill College until halftime, 34-25, and exploding for 40 second-half points in a 65-59 final. It would be the first of two free throws from senior guard Robert Tyler (Beltsville, Md.) that tied the game at 50-50 just past the six-minute mark (5:38), two minutes later (3:33) the difference was extended to eight points, 58-50, on a three point basket from senior guard Jaron Smith (Jersey City, N.J.), and in the end, the Warriors would hit enough of their concluding free throws to precipitate a six-point, 65-59, victory.

Smith and junior guard Imran Ritchie (Uniondale, N.Y.) led four Warriors in double figures with 15 points apiece. Ritchie added five rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to his offensive production while Smith additionally recorded two rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Ga'Briel Chandler (Atlantic City, N.J.) offered 13 points, seven rebounds, and an assist. Tyler totaled 11 points and six rebounds.

Yiljep added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal to his 11 points while McWade's came with a rebound, an assist, and a steal. Bell grabbed four rebounds and made a steal in pursuit of his 10 points.
