Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (2/11/2017) – The final event on a busy day at the Hill saw Concordia College (NY) surge past Chestnut Hill College with a 55-point second half. The Clippers took the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest by a 100-81 final, offering five players in double figures and a fifth two point shy of a triple-double. The Griffins totaled four double digit scorers, sophomore guard Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) was chief among them with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Today's CACC Basketball doubleheader not only served as Senior Day for both the Chestnut Hill College men's and women's basketball teams, it also was the perfect venue for the Martin Luther King (MLK) High School Community Day. In concert with the Chestnut Hill College Office of Institutional Advancement, the MLK High School Community Day featured a series of special guest speakers which included Chestnut Hill College President Sister Carol Jean Vale, SSJ, Ph.D., Pennsylvania State Senator Art Haywood, Congressman Dwight Evans, and MLK Principal Keisha Wilkins, who encouraged the student of MLK to pursue a college education. Experts from the Chestnut Hill College Admissions and Financial Aid Offices were on hand to consult with families about their future educational aspirations.

The first half action began with a 7-0 Concordia College (NY) (8-17, 7-9) run that ended with a fastbreak layup from the only honoree of today's Senior Day recognition, graduate guard J.J. Butler (Bel Air, Md.) at 17:13 (7-2). But Chestnut Hill College (5-18, 2-14) fell behind by as many as 16 points, 33-17, before the eight-minute mark (8:41). The momentum changed hands behind the offensive efforts of sophomore Bryant Quill (Pottstown, Pa.) and Nasir Bell (Philadelphia, Pa.), who combined for 25 points in the first half and brought the Scarlet and Gold soaring back on a 36-10 run to halftime.

Unfortunately the Griffin high did not endure the concluding frame as the Clippers pulled away in a 100-81 final. Concordia College (NY) led the majority of the way and was matched by Chestnut Hill College for the last time at 12:02 with the score knotted at 66-66. Sophomore forward Stephen Milhaven (Port Washington, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and a steal. Junior guard Elijah Brown (Springfield, N.J.) also recorded a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Sophomore guard Cedrick McFadden (Washington, DC) also scored 18 points, but he only paired it with three rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Freshman guard Brandon Fields (Washington, DC) totaled 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while junior forward Justyn Gardner (Queens, N.Y.) offered 11 points and six rebounds off the Clipper bench. Senior guard Jalen Heath (Joliet, Ill.) was a factor as well with eight points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal.

Awl scored half (3-of-8, .375) of his six baskets (6-of-16, .375) from behind the three point arch. He also hit all three (3-of-3, 1.000) of his free throw attempts. Bell and Quill both finished with 17 points. Bell paired his – a career-high – with six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal, while Quill's came with seven rebounds, an assist, a block, and three steals. Sophomore guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the fourth Griffin in double figures, he totaled 12 points in excess of four rebounds, five assists, and a steal. On his day, Butler provided one of his better performances with eight points, six rebounds, and a season-high eight assists.
