Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/18/2017) – In a low-scoring affair for Chestnut Hill College, freshman forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) kept the Scarlet and Gold in contention. She hit four from long range (4-of-7, .571), shooting the Griffins back into the fray during a 27-point third quarter that narrowed the gap to single digits, 56-47, for the final frame. But there, the University of the Sciences (USciences) stood their ground, warding off a late Chestnut Hill College push for a 65-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory. Glenn finished with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

CACC South Division leader, USciences (23-5, 16-3) led Chestnut Hill College (16-9, 11-7) by four points, 18-14, at the end of the first quarter. But the Griffins only recorded six points in the second period, allowing the Devils to take a comfortable 37-20 halftime lead. Glenn, who scored just six point in the first half, sparked the Griffin rally early in the second half with her third long range basket of the affair, 40-23 (9:24). From there, the Scarlet and Gold controlled the pace, reducing the spread to single digits, 50-41, on a layup from sophomore forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) just past the four-minute mark (3:51) of the third quarter, and pulling within two points, 59-57, on a layup from junior forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.) at 4:34 of the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Devils scored just enough to deny the comeback in a 65-59 finish.

USciences balanced their offense with four in double figures. Junior guard Sarah Abbonizio (West Chester, Pa.) led the group with 16 points, but her teammates; freshman guard Jordan Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.), sophomore guard Alex Thomas (Hockessin, Del.), and junior forward Colleen Walsh (Downingtown, Pa.) combined for a majority of the Devils' three-point shooting (12-of-35, .343) barrage. Vitelli hit four (4-of-9, .444), while Thomas (3-of-10, .300), and Walsh (3-of-9, .333.) hit three from beyond the arch.

It was Glenn 10th game of three, three point baskets or more this season. Senior forward Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) was the only other Griffin in double figures. She finished the affair with 12 points in addition to five rebounds, and an assist. Sophomore guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) provided nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal at the point for Chestnut Hill College.

The Griffins conclude their 2016-2017 regular season schedule on Tuesday, February 21, when they welcome Goldey-Beacom College to campus for an opportunity to host an Opening Round contest for the CACC Championship Tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
