Box Score Lakewood, N.J. – (3/29/2017) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season resumed today for the Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team, who visited Georgian Court University for this afternoon's affair. The Lions defended their home field to the tune of a 17-7 final, while the Griffin effort was highlighted by a pair of three-goal efforts from senior midfielder Jacklyn O'Leary (East Meadow, N.Y.) and junior attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.); the latter added six draw controls to her scoring.

After an early exchange of goals, Georgian Court University (4-6, 3-0) used a 7-1 run to separate for an 8-2 halftime advantage. Chestnut Hill College (1-7, 1-1) answered the Lions opening goal with a Galantich free position score at 26:19, 1-1. But the stalemate lasted less than two minutes as freshman midfielder Adrianna Quinlan (Delran, N.J.) sparked a 4-0 Lion run with her free position goal at 24:42, 2-1. The Griffins interrupted the home scoring streak with a man-up tally from Galantich at 7:07, 5-2, but the relief was only temporary as the Lions scored three more times before intermission, 8-2.

In the second half, junior midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C) briefly narrowed the gap to five goals, 8-3, with her unassisted tally at 29:20. Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold would not get any closer with Georgian Court University answering each rally before separating for a late 17-5 (11:50) advantage. O'Leary added her second (17-6 at 3:14) and third (17-7 at 0:54) tallies after that, narrowing the final to margin to 10 goals, 17-7.

Quinlan finished with four goals, two ground balls, and two draws, but it was sophomore attack Samantha Fernandez (Toms River, N.J.) who led the Lions with five goals. She also recorded two ground balls, three draws, and caused a turnover. Junior midfielder Xena Valenzuela (Middletown, N.J.) helped Georgian Court University retain possession with six draws and four caused turnovers in addition to her three points (two goals and one assist). In goal, sophomore Amber Neumann (Brick, N.J.) (4-6) totaled seven saves.

In support of O'Leary, Galantich, and Leckonby, and in compliment to sophomore goalkeeper Valeria Amaya (Oakland, Calif.) and senior goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.), senior midfielder Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.), sophomore defender Kailey Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.), and freshman midfielder Mary Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa.) combined for four ground balls and six caused turnovers. Amaya (0-2) recorded one ground ball in the opening 7:17, while Lang totaled five saves and a ground ball over the closing 52:43.
