Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (4/12/2017) – A furious second half rally would fall just short for the Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team this evening, dropping a pivotal Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to Dominican College, 14-9.

Dominican College (7-4, 7-0 CACC) jumped on the board early, when senior attack Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) netted an unassisted marker. Chestnut Hill College (5-8, 5-2 CACC) responded with two quick goals, first a goal from sophomore midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) off a fee from senior attack Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (22:58), then an unassisted marker from junior attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) (20:56).

The Lady Chargers would take command of the half from that point on, scoring eight of the final nine goals, interrupted by Galantich's second goal of the contest (2:39). Gallagher netted a trio of goals during the run, with freshman attack Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) netting three as well. A late tally from the visitors would send the game into the halftime break with the guests leading 10-3.

The Scarlet and Gold roared out of the break, opening the half on a 4-0 run, breathing new life into the team. Freshman midfielder Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) opened the scoring (27:33) off a feed from senior midfielder Jacklyn O'Leary (East Meadow, N.Y.). Goals from senior Lea Sanders (North Merrick, N.Y) (17:01), senior Rachel Perry (Gilbertsville, Pa.) (15:32), and Reinert (15:03), capped the run.

With the Lady Chargers' lead down to just three, 10-7, the visitors were again able to establish command of the game, going on a 4-0 run of their own to secure a 14-7 lead. Senior Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) scored a pair unassisted markers to lead the charge. The Griffins wouldn't quit, but goals from O'Leary and Reinert wouldn't be enough as the hosts fell, 14-9.

Heegan and Gallagher each netted four goals in the victory, with freshman Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) adding three goals and one assist in the victory. Junior goalkeeper Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) recoded seven saves in the victory (7-4).

Reinert led the Chestnut Hill College attack with three goals and five shots. Galantich netted a pair of goals and added two assists, with Fitzgerald adding four ground balls to go along with her goal. Senior goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) recorded 11 saves in the defeat (5-6).
