Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/23/2017) – Riding the right arm of senior Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.), Chestnut Hill College used two big innings to secure a 7-0 victory over the University of the Sciences (USciences) in the opener of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. Senior shortstop Corie Apodaca (Ontario, Calif.) (2-for-4) knocked in three runs in the contest. In the nightcap, a four-run fifth inning propelled the Griffins to a 5-3 victory. Sophomore left fielder Marissa Maioran (Rockaway, N.J.) knocked in two runs that inning with a single to left field while sophomore Nichole Eberhard (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned her second win (2-7) of the season, holding the Devils to three runs on seven hits and a walk.

Holloway worked her way through the USciences (5-29, 4-18) lineup. Meanwhile, in the fourth inning, Chestnut Hill College (13-25, 11-11) gave her some run support with a lead-off single from senior center fielder Ashley Sharp (Dresher, Pa.) and a run-scoring single to center field from junior designated player Jessica Pulis (Baldwin, N.Y.), 1-0. Sophomore right fielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) then singled to second base and later scored along with freshman pinch runner Kailey Reposa (Factoryville, Pa.) on an Apodaca double to right field, 3-0. The Griffins added four more runs in the fifth inning thanks to early hits from Maioran and Sharp, a pair of Devil errors, a pair of walks, and a productive fielder's choice, 7-0. Holloway set the program's all-time record for wins in a season with her ninth (9-11) of the year. She allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out four.

USciences got on the scoreboard first in game two with a two-out solo home run in the top of the second inning, 1-0. Chestnut Hill College got it back in the third inning with a lead-off single from senior first baseman Jenna Long (North Wildwood, N.J.), a pair of ground outs, and an error by the Devil shortstop, 1-1. Long started the action in the fifth inning as well. She drew a one-out walk and was relieved at first base by Reposa, who stole second before scoring on an error by the Devil second baseman, 2-1. After a walk to Apodaca, a fly out, and an error at third base made it 3-1 before Maioran's single to left field brought home the other two, 5-1. The Devils showed signs of life in their final at-bat, forcing the game into the hands of sophomore Jessica Heaton (Berlin, N.J.). She earned her third save of the season; a single-season high for the Griffins. Also a Chestnut Hill College single-season record was the victory as 13 wins marks the program's highest single-season win total at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level.

Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Thursday, April 27, when they visit Bloomfield College for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
