Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Orangeburg, N.Y. – (4/3/2017) – While senior Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.) held Nyack College to just four hits, sophomore right fielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) and junior designated player Jessica Pulis (Baldwin, N.Y.) hit home runs to power Chestnut Hill College to a 4-0 victory in the first game of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Nyack College. The Warriors earned a split win a 7-4 win in game two, using a five-run fourth inning to overcome a second Magee long ball that brought home two Griffins in the third inning.

Magee's game-two home run gave Chestnut Hill College (4-16, 2-4) a 2-1 lead in the third inning. But Nyack College (2-20, 1-5) used four hits, a couple wild pitches, and an error, to score five runs in the fourth inning, 6-2. The Griffins answered with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, 6-4, thanks to a Warrior error, a double to left field from sophomore designated player Alex Sauer (New Milford, N.J.), and a fortunate passed ball that scored one run, before a run-scoring single from Magee. But that was as close as the Scarlet and Gold got to a sweep as the Warriors added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame, 7-4. Magee was 2-for-4 with one run and three runs-batted-in (RBI), Sauer 1-for-3 with a run, and senior shortstop Corie Apodaca (Ontario, Calif.) 1-for-4.

The first game moved briskly as Holloway hustled through the Nyack College lineup. She allowed only four hits and never let a Warrior reach third base thanks to a misplayed ball in centerfield that ended up netting the Griffins outs at both second and third. Meanwhile, her teammates provided some punch. Chestnut Hill College scored a run in the first inning on a one-out double from Apodaca and a RBI-single to right field from sophomore catcher Brielle Riotte (Elizabeth, N.J.). They scored another run in the second inning on a lead-off home run from Pulis; the first of her collegiate career. And two more in the fourth inning on Magee's two-out, two-run home run. Both she and Apodaca were 2-for-4.

Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule at home tomorrow, Tuesday, April 4, with a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader opposite Holy Family University.
