Box Score 2 Orangeburg, N.J. – (4/9/2017) – Senior
Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.) was nearly untouchable in the opener of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Dominican College, where Chestnut Hill College split league wins with the Lady Chargers, 3-0 and 0-8 (5). She earned her fifth win (5-8) of the season, allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out two in the complete game effort. Sophomore right fielder
Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) helped provide the offense with three hits (3-for-4) and two runs. Unfortunately, the roles reversed in game two as the Lady Chargers limited the Scarlet and Gold to just three hits in an 8-0, five-inning final.
Chestnut Hill College (7-19, 5-7) got a first-inning, lead-off single from Magee, a second-inning lead-off single from sophomore first baseman
Kaya Swanek (Pittston, Pa.), and a third-inning, one-out single from senior shortstop
Corie Apodaca (Ontario, Calif.), but was unable to move a runner past second base in game two. As sophomore Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) (4-3) struck out nine over five innings.
In game one, Holloway was unhittable, allowing only a double and a walk in the second inning, and a two-out single in the third inning. Meanwhile, Magee stole home after leading off the first inning with a single to center field, 1-0; a beaning of junior designated player
Jessica Pulis (Baldwin, N.Y.) with the bases loaded pushed the second run home in the third inning, 2-0, and a single from sophomore third baseman
Lily Winn (Los Angeles, Calif.) brought home the third Scarlet and Gold run in the fourth inning. Magee was the run on two of those occasions, Apodaca was the third.
The Griffins continue their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 12, when they travel down Henry Avenue to face Philadelphia University in a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
